Ollie and Emma

clarissa-mandy1Back in April, my wife worked as a costume assistant on a locally produced web-tv mini series called Ollie and Emma. She asked me to come and help on the Sundays that they were shooting and I ended up working as a PA (production assistant), a job that starts at. $14 per hour in the industry. This was a volunteer position that promised an IMDB credit and experience. Besides it was something interesting to do on a Sunday.

I had a lot of fun and met some great people and learned more about the film industry. There was a great little wrap party that was held at Moxies and I was greatly looking forward to the release of the show on Telus Optik. The series was released on their web channel on Aug 26, 2016 and it was a blast to watch all the scenes that I was present for.

At the end of the film I was disappointed to discover that:

  • I was credited as a Volunteer, not a PA which was the work I did.
  • My name was misspelled, as was my wife’s
  • I wasn’t credited on IMDB, I had to add myself in, at least this way I got the PA credit.

In the end it was a great experience and I’ll just have to assert myself more to get better representation next time.
